While I was pregnant, I discovered the power of mantras.I begun to use mantras during my nightly meditation practice.

A mantra is a word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation and a statement or slogan repeated frequently. Mantras are like medicine for the soul. Everything is different and life is better when I meditate everyday. When we select a word or series of words to repeat in the form of a mantra, we are affirming it to ourselves and allowing its meaning to seep below the surface, into our subconscious, helping to shift our negative habits and patterns into positive ones.

Examples of mantras:

“Love is the only miracle there is.” – Osho
“Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Gandhi
“Every day in every way I’m getting better and better.” – Laura Silva
“I change my thoughts, I change my world.” – Norman Vincent Peale

We each have a glow that can radiate out from our core.  The you that walks into a room and brightens up everyone’s day, the you who’s smile can change the world, and the you who you like to see the mirror smile back at you.

My favorite mantra I created for my daughter is GLOW BRIGHT WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT.  I created it during my night meditation following her first “toddler tantrum”.   I felt so much guilt and confusion after her first tantrum. I had so many questions and wonderings of what ifs about my own parent choices that directly effect my daughter’s understanding of the world.  I wanted to do better and give her more. This mantra is what I hope, dream for her to gain the power to GLOW BRIGHT WITH ALL YOU MIGHT.

This mantra now my North Star, guiding our moments and choices to find our glow in everything we do. It empowers me with an enlightened perceptive for creating a transformational path for my daughter to navigate.

This mantra is complex and versatile with many applications for life with a toddler.  This mantra means to me: possibility, happiness, don’t give up, you got this, get up, try again, you are beautiful, persevere, you are love, you are worthy, you can do anything, life is good, life is great, etc.  This mantra helps guide me to mindfulness that empowers my super mama skills and cultivates a strong mindset for my daughter.

My dream is for Lavender Literacy to be a place of support, love and understanding that empowers us all to end each day feeling the love and confidence that you did GLOW BRIGHT WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT!

When Ghandi can best explain how mindfulness is transformational:

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”-Gandhi

Mantras are transformational!
